Powerchip, Renesas to Form NAND Flash JV

Taiwanese Powerchip has announced that it will form a joint venture named Vantel with Japanese Renesas in Toyko to develop NAND flash memory chips. The new company, which is expected to be capitalized at US$3 million, will start operation in February, 2007. Powerchip, with a 65% share, will be responsible for production and sales activities.
